If you’ve found your way here, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
I am Mrs. Wright, and this little corner of the internet was born from two things I love: cooking and sharing stories.
I’ve always loved being in the kitchen. Long before I became a mom or started my career, cooking was something I did simply because I enjoyed it. I loved trying new recipes, recreating restaurant dishes, and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. Some recipes turned out exactly as planned. Others became learning experiences—and a few became takeout nights.
But regardless of the outcome, cooking always brought me joy.
Then life changed.
I became a mom.
And while motherhood has been one of the greatest blessings of my life, it has also changed the way I approach just about everything—including cooking.
These days, creating dinner often looks less like a peaceful evening in the kitchen and more like a juggling act. There are bottles to wash, laundry to fold, naps to navigate, and a never-ending list of things that need my attention. Add in two dogs, Luna and Nova, who always seem to know the exact moment I need both hands free and suddenly decide it’s time for attention, and things can get a little chaotic.
Sometimes dinner comes together beautifully. Sometimes I realize halfway through a recipe that I forgot an ingredient. Sometimes I have a sink full of dishes staring at me before I’ve even finished cooking. And sometimes I’m trying to cook with a baby needing attention while Luna and Nova are convinced they’re my official kitchen supervisors/cleaners.
And honestly? That’s real life.
As I get closer to returning to work, I’ve spent a lot of time wondering if I’ll still have room for the hobbies and passions that have always been part of who I am. Will I still have time to cook? Will I still have the energy to try new recipes? Will I still be able to make meals that feel special in the middle of a busy week?
The answer I’m choosing to believe is yes.
Not because life will suddenly become less chaotic, but because the things we love deserve a place in our lives, even when life gets busy.
That’s why I created Cooking Done Wright.
This blog isn’t about perfection. You won’t find spotless kitchens, perfectly curated lives, or impossible standards here. What you will find are approachable recipes that feel elevated without feeling overwhelming. Some meals will come together quickly. Others might take a little more time. But every recipe is designed to be achievable, enjoyable, and worth sharing.
More importantly, every recipe comes with a story.
Because behind every meal is a real-life moment.
Some stories will make you laugh. Some will make you nod your head because you’ve been there too. Some will be about motherhood, work, family, and trying to figure out how to balance all the things we care about. And some will simply be about the time I accidentally made a giant mess of my kitchen while attempting something ambitious.
My hope is that you’ll find a little bit of yourself here.
Maybe you’ll discover a new favorite recipe. Maybe you’ll feel inspired to try something outside of your comfort zone. Maybe you’ll laugh at one of my kitchen disasters and feel a little better about your own.Whatever brings you here, I’m grateful for it.So grab a seat, pour yourself a cup of coffee—or a glass of wine—and let’s make something beautiful together. The kitchen might be messy. But dinner is going to be fantastic.
With love, Mrs. Wright
